Harrow RA’s January 2020 Meeting

We were pleased to announce that Andy Taylor, our Training Officer would be presenting our first  training session of the season, “Getting the Big Decisions Right”. This is a subject important to all referees, whether you are a trainee, just starting out, or have been refereeing for quite some time. Twenty attended, including one guest from Hertfordshire on a wet and windy Monday evening on Monday, 13th January.  We met at 8 p.m. on the first floor in the Function Suite at Tithe Farm Sports and Social Club, Rayners Lane FC, Rayners Lane, HARROW, HA2 0XH. Everyone enjoyed the evening and took part, having to submit a PostIt note detailing the last Big Decision they had made on the field of play. Andy had not led a training session for some time, but reminded everyone why his nickname is “the Guru” with the depth of knowledge and expertise on the Laws of the Game obvious in his every word. With so many law changes over the past couple of years it was no surprise the everyone learned something new. I, personally and Brett next to me had missed the new need to caution a goalkeeper who moves off the goal line too early during the taking of a penalty kick! Derek, whose Big Decision it was did get it right though! A great evening enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Andy.
